Wow, you write beautifully! This is an amazing tribute to very gifted man. I'm glad people with your talent have illuminated how complex Jobs really was, and how he succeeded in shifting technology from a mechanized tool towards an elegant interface.

I still can't believe he's gone!

Wow, that's a lot of stuff!

I am interested in the DIY ethos, too. I'm not from DC, but on my visit there I saw a lot of hard core drive to "get to the top." Phew!

One of my favorite books is called Hope for the Flowers, by Trina Paulus. I think you might enjoy it.

I love the Sunday newspaper no mattered where I lived. As a child in Detroit and as an adult in Chicago the Sunday paper is one of lifes pleasures not to be matched by the blogs. It is hard to curl up with your lap top and read the Huffington Post.
Let the papers be a paper with its coupons, comics,"lifestyle sections",sports, target flyers and all manner of info.
I do not read the Washington Post but do read the Orlando Sentinel every day and Sunday too. I then go on line and catch up with all the rest.

There are plenty of free or low cost books available for the Kindle. Take a look at the review here to learn what the Kindle can do for you. It convinced me that it was the right reader for me and I use it on a daily basis.
