An old man, hunched over, trailed by aides, wanders the grass, talking about erecting a 100-foot flag pole on his lawn. The perfect spot for Old Glory.
But this man is the President of the United States.
Vibes have shifted. The tide has turned. The emperor has no clothes.
Whatever metaphor you seek to employ, there’s a feeling in the air, as real as the bright tulips that have returned to Washington, that the Trump regime is leaking power. Badly.
No longer the fierce, lawless cabal that freed January 6th rioters on the night of the Inauguration, they stumble and prevaricate as their plans for global domination come undone.
It was the tariffs, the ill-devised scheme by Peter Navarro, the led to the loss of clout.
Suddenly, the world, and the markets, snapped to attention. And told Trump to fuck off.
China refused to make a deal. A country with a history spanning thousands of years is not easily intimidated. Who will fold first? A true autocracy or the befuddled leader of a nation addicted to cheap, imported goods?

Congress didn’t pass the budget. Trump didn’t help. The city will now be forced to layoff police officers and close libraries.

Chuds mocked “the Resistance” at the start of Trump’s term but who took down Elon Musk? With Tesla stock plunging, thanks to the nationwide Tesla Takedown protests, he’s been forced to leave his role chainsawing government to try to save his car company.
However, the damage has been done, with cuts to vital services, like NOAA. I worked there for several years as a contractor with some of the most dedicated people I have ever met. For them, protecting the public from severe weather, such as hurricanes and tornadoes, was more than just a job, it was a calling. DOGE has fired them which means that little towns on the Plains won’t get tornado warnings and the Gulf Coast won’t know exactly where that hurricane will hit.
And the chuds? Those die-hard fans of Trump, who camped out on the National Mall for constitutional redress, held a vigil for J6 rioters outside the DC Jail and randomly convoyed around the country? This odd collection of livestreaming grifters could make a living under Biden but they can’t under Trump so they’ve all gone quiet.
But they haven’t learned. They never will.
Hard times are ahead, with shortages and higher prices coming, due to the tariffs. That’s the legacy of the first 100 days of Trump.
None of this needed to happen.
But the vibe has shifted. And the senile old man wandering the North Lawn of the White House? He knows it, too. He knows he failed.
