J6ers Are Not Immune from Prosecution for New Crimes

With the Trump pardon, January 6th insurrectionists thought that they were above the law. It was a “get out of jail” card that rendered them immune from prosecution, forever, for all crimes, for all time.

As they commit new offenses, they have found that the pardon only applies to one day and one set of crimes. This is a surprise to them.

Shuping Finds Out

Shuping Jonnes attacked my friend Patricia Eguino on January 6, 2026, the fifth anniversary of the insurrection. Violence is a tradition for Trump fans on this day.

After Patty disrupted their rally, a mob of J6ers assaulted her, jabbed her with a flag pole, ripped her shirt and stole her megaphone. They chased her down the street until the Secret Service grabbed Patty, thinking that she was the aggressor. The J6ers cheered and chanted, “USA! USA!” as she was led away, celebrating their great victory over a petite woman with a megaphone.

J6ers love filming their crimes. It was all caught on video, including Shuping yanking Patty by the hair.

Patty went back, standing on the side of Constitution Avenue as the J6 Reunion March trooped by, her presence enough to send the insurrectionists into fits of rage.

“The demon has been loosed!” one of them shouted.

Chud logic – making the worst possible decision in any given situation.

Shuping tried to force her way through the police line to get at Patty for a second assault.

And was arrested, much to her surprise. I’ll never forget the look on her face: shock that the rules applied to her.

Shuping was arraigned yesterday and faces up to 180 days in jail.

Tarrio Refuses to Pay

Enrique Tarrio, the Proud Boy leader, was found guilty in a civil suit for vandalizing an African-American church in DC. He lost the Proud Boys trademark and was ordered to pay more than $2 million in damages.

Which he refuses to do, flouting the court in every possible way, from smoking during Zoom status calls to deleting evidence from his phone.

Tarrio is hiding his stake in the so-called “Proud Coin,” a knockoff of Trump’s crypto scam.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest. It’s a civil matter so the warrant is non-extraditable, meaning that he’s safe as long as he doesn’t go to Washington, DC.

Tarrio started a GiftSendGo to raise money for legal expenses. This was a common scam among J6 prisoners. They’d collect donations for an attorney but then use a public defender and pocket the cash.

He deleted the GiftSendGo shortly after he created it, possibly because the feds were likely to seize the money.

I Don’t Need to Tip because I am J6er

And then we get to the dumbest January 6er of all: Bryan Betancur.

He was one of the first people arrested after the attack on the Capitol because he was wearing an ankle monitor from a previous crime.

Betancur is so proud of his Trump pardon that he got it framed and walks around with it. This hasn’t prevented him from getting in trouble – he went to jail for most of last year after being convicted of stalking local activist Anarchy Princess.

Jail did not change him. Betancur posts on social media that he doesn’t have to pay for Metro or tip waitresses because he’s a J6er. Washington owes him. Metro is aware of this fare-jumping miscreant.

Like many of the J6ers, he believes that he’s going to receive millions in “reparations” for his pain and suffering. They all want money for nothing. And then he’s going to sue Stephen Colbert for making fun of him.

This is just a small sample of the J6ers who have gone on to commit new crimes, attempt to gin up anti-Muslim crusades and cause other problems.

With the pardons, Trump opened the doors to Arkham Asylum and emboldened J6ers who believe that not only are they above the law, but that this country owes them.

It’s a powerful sense of entitlement. But, as in all cults, only the people in the top accrue the benefits. Those at the bottom are nobodies to be used and then discarded.

Trump may be immune from prosecution. But the ordinary J6ers are not. They will continue to go to prison as they commit new crimes.
